Recently, the Mega customs community has been straying further and further away from its roots. Figures have developed to their peak, and then in my opinion, too far past it. Mega customs have become nearly unrecognizable from the official brand. Increased articulation, more realistic proportions and scaling, and extremely detailed pieces have taken over customs. And all of this is because of 3d printing. I think 3d printing Mega can be compared to AI. Just like AI, they are a tool that are amazing and can be used to seriously increase the quality of customs. However, eventually it goes too far and starts to ruin the final product.
Recently, a friend challenged me to make a custom using only official Mega parts, no 3d prints allowed. This helped me to realize how far we have strayed from Mega lately. I realized that every one of my customs recently have been nearly one hundred percent 3d printed, making the final product look almost nothing at all like a real Mega figure.
I really appreciate this custom, because it's reminded me of where I came from and how this all started. I'd encourage all of the other custom creators here to do this same challenge as well! It was really pleasant for me and I think that if all of us tried this it would seriously help the community.
